Jack Rigg LLB first started in law enforcement at the age of 16 when he joined the London Metropolitan Cadets. In 1956 he started training in the Royal Marines. After completing the Commando Course, he became entitled to wear the green beret. He then served with 40 Commando Royal Marines in Suez, Cyprus and North Africa before returning to the Metropolitan Police. At the age of 28, he became the youngest Police Inspector in the United Kingdom. In 1972 Jack migrated to Australia where he then studied law at Sydney University and was admitted as a Solicitor in the Supreme Court of NSW in 1981. He formed his Legal Practice in 1991.

Jack gathered together a close-knit team of solicitors and support staff, who are experts in the practice of law and strive to provide the best and most cost effective outcome for each client.

In 2007 Jack retired from practice and completed a Diploma in Physical Education and became the oldest Fitness Specialist in New South Wales.

Jack Rigg Solicitors was formed in 2005 and has been providing a wide range of legal services to all members of the community ever since.

MICHAEL BELLINGHAM

Michael Bellingham is an accredited Criminal Law Specialist and has practiced law in most jurisdictions, including the Local Court, the Children’s Court, the District Court, the Family Court, the Supreme Court and the Court of Criminal Appeal as well as a number of Tribunals including the Migration Review Tribunal, NCAT and the AAT. In addition he has extensive knowledge of the proceedings in the Crime Commission both State and Commonwealth.

Michael Bellingham has been appointed to the General Criminal, Serious Criminal and Indictable Panels of Legal Aid. His expertise encompasses a wide range of legal matters which include Minor and Serious Traffic Offences, AVOs and ADVOs (private and police), drug charges ranging from possession of a small quantity to importing and distribution of drugs on a large commercial scale, allegations of Sexual Misconduct, Assaults, Fraud, Murder and Manslaughter. Mr Bellingham appears regularly on both Local and Supreme Court bail applications, Committal Hearings, District Court Appeals and both long and short trials.

Other areas of expertise include Family Law, Defacto Relationships, Parenting Disputes, Civil Proceedings and provides Immigration advice for both Tribunal matters and your rights when your Visa or Residency is cancelled by the Minister.

Michael Bellingham also holds Maritime qualifications including Masters and Engineering certificates and a Yachtmasters Instructors certificate. Before becoming a Lawyer he held the position of Captain on many vessels around Australia including Luxury Cruises, Charter Yachts and the HMS Bounty. He has a strong connection with all things Maritime and has been awarded the Ocean Navigator Trophy on three occasions by the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia. He was a member of the Winning Crew in the Sydney Hobart Yacht Race in 2011 on the Yacht Loki.

ASHER LIEW B.A. J.D.

Asher Liew graduated with a Bachelor of Arts and a Juris Doctor from the University of Sydney.

Practising predominately in criminal law and family law, Asher Liew brings a strong focus to the issues in dispute in each matter and has a keen understanding of how the various areas of law interrelate.

He understands the stresses that clients may feel when they interact with the law and is able to effectively assist them in navigating it in order that they may reach the best outcome.

Denise Simpson is our Senior Conveyancer and Probate Specialist. Denise brings 30 years of experience to all Real Estate transactions and Property transfers. Whether you are buying your first home or an investment property, or selling a home, Denise is able to precisely and efficiently manage your affairs.

Denise is sensitive to the often complex family issues that arise in Probate matters and will assist you in navigating through the forms and procedures that must be followed in order to achieve the desired outcome for all concerned.

KAY BEBINGTON

Kay Bebington is a very experienced Legal Assistant. Her attention to detail, excellent communication skills and her ability to maintain composure in stressful situations have made her a valuable staff member. Kay’s friendly voice may be your first interaction with our firm. She will take your details and ensure that all your needs are catered for.

Kay deals with Legal Aid applications and assists solicitors with preparation and filing of documents in Court and the online Registry.

MICHELLE JIANG

Michelle Jiang is our paralegal and a current law student at the University of New South Wales. She has a strong track record in domestic and international law competitions, and has held many leadership roles in her university's law society. Michelle assists our lawyers in the drafting and preparation of court documents on a range of criminal and family law matters, including affidavits, subpoenas, and consent orders. She also is a legal assistant to a leading criminal law barrister in Sydney, and a law competition student coach at university. In addition to English, Michelle can speak Mandarin Chinese, the Shanghai dialect, and French, to assist with liaising with clients.
